What it solves

DXF has no Bézier curves, only lines and arcs, so every curve gets approximated. Too few segments and a smooth line grows corners; too many and the nodes become impossible to edit later. Online converters choose the split for you, so where dimensions must be exact, they cannot be the last step.

STEP surfaces must be triangulated to get into SketchUp, and the data balloons. The face count is not what stops you: you go to push-pull a face, grab a triangle instead, and have to delete the diagonals one by one first.

Locate, trace, lay out, and export in one coordinate universe. Pull a setback in by 50 cm and the stall count recalculates on the spot, with no redrawing and no recounting.

You only know the stall count once the layout is drawn, so the work is trial and error by nature. Draw stalls one by one by hand, change one aisle width, and everything you drew before it is void.
